Wonderful..

Today has been a pretty spectacular day!

We started off by sleeping in until 10am, which is a pretty awesome gift to me on a Saturday morning, especially after being up until 2 (thanks insomnia) - and back up at 4 (thanks diapers that promise 12 hour protection) - and uncomfortable until finally sleeping again at 6 (thanks massive belly). Suffice it to say I'm a walking zombie 9/10ths of the time... er..all the time.

I don't think there's enough caffeine on the face of the planet to help me feel "awake" or "alert" anymore. Those words are pretty foreign to me these days.

I digress..

Today we had a lovely heat wave, a beautiful sunny 70 degrees! We all got to wear short sleeves, and the kids for the first time in a while got to go exploring through the woods, and play in the leaves. They had a blast finding secret hideouts, and running wild with the puppies. They actually managed to wear the puppies out! After a few hours of running wild outside, it was time to do the Saturday shopping.

I then got another gift (feels like my birthday!), and my parents took 2 out of my three shopping with them! Not saying my kids are problematic - but I'm slow, and easy to take advantage of these days.. and they seem to be able to sniff out that weakness, and know how to push all my buttons making shopping feel more like an extreme sport. So thinking about taking my time, only having to listen to one conversation, answer one set of questions, all while multitasking and attempting to finish out a list? Is pretty awesome.

Mr. EJ was my shopping buddy today. We took our time through Food Lion, and listened to loud music of his choosing. We slowly strolled through Target, and he was ever so patient while I looked through maternity tops that were on clearance (score maternity pea coat for half off!), he even insisted I try the shirts on before buying them! He wanted to see how "pretty" they looked on me. His future wife will thank me for this. - He was extremely patient while I picked out another sheet set since Punkin' likes to wet mine constantly (yes we co-sleep, save that judgement for another time), and even attempted to help coordinate colors!

He was certainly a pleasant shopping companion!

Then came the fun part! Since EJ is my more soft-spoken child, and he generally gets lost in Punkin's constant need for attention, and Miss T's outgoing personality, I really wanted to treat him to something special just the two of us.

So..

He was officially my date for the night. We went to eat at Chilli's, and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. At first he was unsure about the noise level that comes along with eating out on a Saturday night, but soon into them bringing us food, and him realizing he had 100% of my attention (minus the queso that I couldn't keep away from) he was certainly okay with this dining out experience.

We had a blast! We ate waaay too much food, got far too full, and doggy bagged what appeared to be leftovers from a party of six.

We did get a lot of unusual stares. I'm guessing it's not common to go out to eat with your child? I find that silly. I'm just glad he's old enough to enjoy eating out at a restaurant with me. He was glad to be my "date" and wants us to be able to go out to eat together more often. I agree, I had an amazing time, he was the best date I do believe I've had, such a gentleman! He was extremely thankful I brought him with me, and told me "I love you" probably 20 times at dinner alone! Did your heart just melt too? He even sat on the same side of the booth, because he wanted to be near me. He's such a sweetheart.

We officially both were worn out for the drive home, and unloading the groceries can wait until tomorrow (minus the cold stuff of course) - we're all full, sleepy, and ready to turn in for the night. The girls had an awesome time out with their grandparents and also got to eat out - so I'm glad they are equally as worn out as we are.

So for now, it's past time to tuck everyone in, including myself, and hopefully sleep peacefully! We can always hope the kiddos sleep in until 10 again too! ;)

'Till next time!
