Better late than never right?

Remember that "Dear Christmas tree" post? This one is far less exciting, but long overdue!

Of course, these are a year late. Not to mention this is a different tree, with far less "special" ornaments to capture, but hey, nevertheless here they are!

I received a camera as a gift for Christmas that is able to deliver the quality I attempted to get from my old camera. So of course, I again set out to get those pictures of my tree that everyone else gets.

Not long into the process I realized I'd photographed all the different (5) types of ornaments, and it really wasn't as much fun as I had originally anticipated.

Maybe next year right?

Oh, and...

Where is my tree you ask?

5 hours away in a storage unit. Accompanied by all our ornaments and other Christmas decorations.

So this year we had to start all over, new (cheap) tree, new ornaments etc etc.

I'd love to have an exciting story about finding the perfect mesh of awesome that made up our tree this year, however this year I left it in my children's hands. They don't exactly plan ahead on themes, or get excited to find anything that seems "perfect" - but they did enjoy getting to choose everything considering we normally don't need to buy this much (all of it) in order to decorate. I did guide them towards the 40 dollar pre-lit tree because I don't see spending a fortune on one for this year knowing our lovely 8 foot is in storage, as being a good idea. Besides that though, they took care of choosing the topper, skirt, ornaments, and ribbon. They didn't do half bad! We did have to discuss color combinations a couple of times with the ribbon and angel, but that's only because I didn't see having blue and green ribbon with red themed ornaments, and a white angel sitting right with any of us.

I did forget how expensive it is to start from scratch, stockings included. Plus we have a yearly tradition of getting one new ornament each year that kind of sums up the year. Again the children got to pick their own ornaments, and again they seemed thrilled to be a big part of the process that generally goes on behind the scenes. Though a little hard on the pocketbook, I thought it was well worth it because we all enjoyed putting together our tree, with all the new ornaments. I also didn't feel the need to "re-do" any of the children's placements this year. ;)

We made the best out of it (isn't that what Christmas is about anyway?), and have thoroughly enjoyed this little tree, with all the "simpler" ornaments - but I do indeed look forward to having our tree, and all our personalized ornaments for next year. 3rd times the charm right?
